ABOUT · TORONTO

About Shroomverse.

Shroomverse is a Toronto mushroom brand. Alongside its shop, it makes short documentaries and a sourced journal on the history, science, names and law of psilocybin mushrooms, written in plain English for curious adults.

What we make

  • Films. Short, narrated documentaries about the stories behind mushroom names: what is documented, what is legend and what is unknown. Each released film has its own page with the full transcript.
  • The journal. Articles on psilocybin science, history, names and law. Each one dates its sources and labels how strong the evidence is: established, preliminary or unresolved.
  • Research tools. A tracker of psilocybin trials in Canada, refreshed daily from ClinicalTrials.gov, a law tracker, a timeline, a species atlas and a glossary.
  • Psychedelic Toronto. A sourced local history, from the Yorkville coffee houses and Rochdale College to the Le Dain hearings of 1969.
  • The DMT Library. The same approach applied to DMT and ayahuasca.
  • Free pictures. Our species and history artwork is free to reuse, even commercially, with a credit and a link (CC BY 4.0). It is AI-generated and labelled as such.
  • A safety guide. Harm-reduction information and who to call in Toronto, day or night.

How we work

Claims rest on primary sources where they exist: peer-reviewed papers, Government of Canada and Health Canada pages, statutes and trial registries. Journal articles are written and checked by the Shroomverse editorial team, show the date each source was opened, and record every later change with its date. The details, and how to tell us when we get something wrong, are on our editorial standards page and on who makes the journal.

The shop

Shroomverse sells mushroom products, and the shop is part of this site. The films, journal and history pages are kept apart from it: they carry no product links, prices or purchase prompts.

What we are not

Nothing on Shroomverse is medical, legal or identification advice, and nothing in the journal recommends a dose or a way to use any substance. For emergencies call 911. For a crisis call or text 9-8-8. For possible poisoning call the Ontario Poison Centre on 1-800-268-9017.
