Psilocybe quebecensis is a scientific name published in 1967 by G. M. Ola’h and Roger Heim from material collected in Quebec, which makes it one of the few psilocybin mushroom names tied to Canada. Index Fungorum now treats it as a synonym of Psilocybe aztecorum (Index Fungorum).

Records under the name are scarce. On 24 October 2026 GBIF held 15 records filed as P. quebecensis worldwide, ten with Canada as the country (GBIF). One Quebec specimen in the Université de Montréal fungarium notes that its database date and label date disagree (GBIF), a reminder that a single correction can move a small count a lot.

DNA has questioned specimens too. A 2024 genome study re-examined a specimen labelled P. quebecensis at the New York Botanical Garden and redetermined it as Psilocybe caerulipes (Bradshaw et al., 2024). This is a naming history, not an identification guide, and the name says nothing about where any mushroom grows today.
